PHASE 1: INSTALLATION
1) Find a suitable surface
Select a surface of your preference, it can be:
- flat/matt/eggshell paint: to be printed with the Scribit Plaster Markers
- glass: to be printed with the Scribit Glass Markers
- dry erase paint or whiteboard: to be printed with the Scribit Whiteboard Markers
You can use the Scribit Measuring Tape or your measuring tape to identify your Installation Area.
- Installation area: it's the square area defined by the distance of your 2 supports, that must be free of any obstacles (minimum 2m x 2m / 6'7" x 6'7" - maximum 4m x 4m / 13’2” x 13’2”)
The size of your installation area will determine the Drawing Area:
- Drawing area: the surface where Scribit will be drawing ( 50% of your installation area and will be centered within it)
These are the 9 possible options, identified by the holes on the Scribit measuring tape.

2) Place the first support
__________________________________________________
WARNING: the 2 nails/suction cups hooks need to be perfectly aligned or Scribit will not be able to perform its drawings correctly!
__________________________________________________
It's time to hammer in the nails if you are installing on a wall, or use suction cups with hooks in case you have a glass surface.
Place the first support in the top-left corner of your Installation Area. Keep in mind that the distance from the ground must be at least the distance that you are planning to set the 2 supports apart!
2. VIDEO > Place the first support
3) Place the second support
Now grab the Scribit Measuring tape and place the 0m/0" hole around on the support you placed.
Take your pencil before stretching the Scribit Measuring Tape all the way to the top-right corner of your installation area and mark the hole of your choice with a little mark.
3. VIDEO > Place the second support
4) Tag your Zero Point
__________________________________________________
Warning: while the Auto Calibration has been released in BETA, we still recommend that you tag your Zero Point to always have a visual reference of where your Scribit will rest before and after any drawing.
__________________________________________________
Your Scribit Zero Point is the point where any drawing or erasing program will start from.
2 things to know before starting:
A) if your installation area is between 2m x 2m / 6’7” x 6’7” and 2.75m x 2.75m / 9’ x 9’ you will have to look for the A1-A2 holes when using the Scribit Measuring Tape to find the Zero Point.
B) If your installation area is between 3m x 3m / 10’ x 10’ and 4m x 4m / 13’2” x 13’2” you will have to look for the B1-B2 holes when using the Scribit Measuring Tape to find the Zero Point.
In both cases, you have to take your pencil, extend the Scribit Measuring Tape towards the ground vertically and bend it with a 90° angle in correspondence of your A1/B1 hole, then mark the position of your A2/B2 hole.
It is much easier to check the video below for this part of the process.

5) Place Scribit on your wall
It is time to bring your Scribit to its sweet spot.
First of all, remove the spools from the wires on Scribit's wheels and then get close to your wall. Be careful with the wires, they must not get tangled!
Make sure to hold Scribit with your right hand when you loop the left slipknot and to hold it with the left hand when you loop the right slipknot.
5. VIDEO > Place Scribit on your wall
6) Check Scribit's adherence
Check the adherence of Scribit to the wall by moving the wire to the middle position in both fairleads right above Scribit's wheels.

PHASE 2: CONNECTION
7) Connect Scribit to the closest energy plug
It's time to connect your Scribit to the closest energy plug.
7. VIDEO > Connect Scribit to the closest energy plug
8) Connect Scribit to the WiFi
It's time to open the Scribit App and Log in or create an account.
If all the previous steps have been accomplished successfully, you can skip the First Setup in the App and follow these instructions:
- tap on the Scribit icon in the bottom of the screen
- select "+ Add new Scribit"
- "Yes, I did"
- input the material and size of your Installation Area.
__________________________________________________
NOTE: thanks to one of the most recent updates Scribit comes with this WiFi password already memorized. If this is the case, you won't have to type in the password below.
__________________________________________________
The first thing to do is to connect your phone to your Scribit, so that then you will be able to connect your Robot to the WiFi.
A) Copy the password while the robot is blinking white light.
The password is:
ScribItAP314
Warning: the letter between the "b" and the "t" is a capital "i"!
B) Move to your WiFi settings, connect to the WiFi network called Scribit-xxxx and paste the password
C) After pairing your phone to your Scribit, go back to the Scribit App and a notification will pop up saying "Connection established":
D) Now insert the credentials of your WiFi network (network name and password)
E) The LED of Scribit will switch to green for less than a second and then to a solid white light: this means that your Scribit is connected to the internet!
However, if you notice a sudden change in the LED to a red color, it signifies that the credentials have not been inserted correctly or your WiFi network is not compatible with Scribit.
F) Once everything is done correctly, a WiFi connection in your Phone settings will appear under the name of MBC-XXX: don't get connected to this network! Simply reconnect your phone to your normal internet network in order to communicate with your Scribit robot through the app.
WiFi recommendations (IMPORTANT!):
- Make sure that your WiFi security system is WPA2 personal and not WPA2 enterprise/captive portal;
- Your WiFi should be on a frequency of 2.4 GHz and not 5GHz!
- The presence of a firewall in your WiFi security system will prevent Scribit from joining your network
- Make sure that your device reconnectes to the internet automatically right after connecting to your Scribit: if it doesn't, the App will keep loading and you will remain stuck
8. SCHEME: Watch the illustrations to see how to do this step.
Now click on settings and give a name to your Scribit: yes, robots can have names too :)
Congratulations, your Scribit with steady white light is connected to the internet and is ready to be calibrated!
9) Calibration
Now you have 2 options: Automatic Calibration (BETA) or Manual Calibration.
Automatic Calibration (BETA)
It is very easy to make as Scribit will autonomously perform some movements within your installation area and detect its Zero Point. It is just been released and keeps being improved in efficiency and precision as we speak.
Manual Calibration
This process requires a little bit more work from the user side, but when performed precisely it can provide the highest level of precision in your drawings.
It will feel hard to move Scribit: it's ok, no worries!
9. VIDEO > Manual Calibration
PHASE 3: DRAWING
10) Insert the marker & launch!
Select one of the drawings suggested by the Scribit App and make sure to select your Scribit in the drop-down menu before clicking on "Send to Scribit".
Now it's time to insert the marker.
Some recommendations:
- Scribit Plaster Markers: the thermosensitive ink inside them is a unique mix of active chemical particles. Make sure to slap the marker you want to use for drawing - until you see the tip being completely impregnated with ink.
- Scribit Glass Markers: these markers have a solid particle suspended into their ink. The best thing to do to ensure performance is to shake them a little bit before the use.
- Scribit Whiteboard Markers: the whiteboard ink is very stable and durable even after long periods of time. Just take them and put them inside your Scribit.
You have to insert the just-prepared marker inside Scribit's Slot 1.
10. VIDEO: Insert the marker and launch!
Now press Print, wait for your Scribit to download the drawing and enjoy the show!

11) Erase your first drawing (OPTIONAL)
__________________________________________________
Warning: the erasing functionality only works on plaster walls with the Scribit Plaster Markers, not on whiteboard or glass. Make sure that the erasing pod of your Scribit is fully adherent to the wall
__________________________________________________
Only once your first drawing is completed, Scribit will go back to its Zero Point. From there, click on the erase button and Scribit will start the process.
__________________________________________________
NOTE: in the event that your Scribit is unplugged or loses its connection to the internet, Scribit won't remember its last drawing and there will be no option to erase.
__________________________________________________
11. SCHEME: Erase your first drawing
__________________________________________________
NOTE: as walls are often not perfectly flat, you might have to use your humid sponge to perfectly certain remaining details of your first drawing at the end of the process.
__________________________________________________
Now that your first drawing has been erased, you are all set to test a more complex drawing with multiple colors.
